Unexpected

April 20, 2012 a very beautiful day…

After the Coastal Clean-Up in celebration for the Earth Day 2012, my accounting mates decided to have our breakfast in one of the restaurants in the city. While eating, we’re discussing what food to take out for our lunch. Then, I told them I would look for other food in the nearby stall, just for a twist in our everyday cravings. So what I did was leave them for a while.
While looking for some food, I decided to order Chili Chicken Fillet with coleslaw as a side dish. Then I sat in the chair near the counter and waited for my order. I bowed my head on the table coz that time I was very sleepy, maybe because of the feeling that I just got from the beach.

Suddenly, a guy came over. He was ordering something. If I wasn’t mistaken, He’s ordering “siomai”, similar to a steamed meatball meat made of shrimp or pork or a combination of these wrapped and in thin pasta like wrapper called the molo wrapper. Okay, so much for that “siomai”...

He asked, “Hey may I share on your table?”…After hearing that sort, I said to him, “Alright, yes you may!” I continued to rest my head on the table. Then suddenly, I heard him talking, saying things to me…” You know what, you’re pretty. You looked like the one in PBB coz you both have that mole above the upper right lip”. Huh?!...What?...Me?, I replied while giving him a smirking look. “No I’m not! I said to him. “She’s very beautiful. And I’m not’, I continued.

I didn’t expect that this guy would talk to me. He’s a complete stranger. Honestly, I haven’t seen him in my entire whole life, not even when I’m walking down the street, not got the chance to bump at him when I’m stocked with so many people walking down the street and busy with their lives. But I found myself asking him, “How much is the siomai here? He replied, “3 for P20.00”…Then, conversations started.

I guessed that time he was wondering that I’m just a little girl. And that time I was pretty wondering he’s somewhat an office employee and a bit older than me. He was wearing a light blue uniform but that uniform was quite unfamiliar to me. While looking to him, I couldn’t see something to know him personally. That’s because his ID wasn’t visible to me because he put it the other way…You know, just not to be seen by others.

He asked me if I’m still studying. I replied, “No, I’m not. I’m working”. He asked, “Where?” I told him, “I’m working at a government. “Where is that?” he continued. I explained things to him…and the conversations went on. He even asked what my course was. I said proudly, “Economics!”. Then he told with a smile, “Oh we’re the same! Mine was Banking and Finance”. I wondered, How could that be the same…Economics is the social science that analyzes the production, distribution and consumption of goods and services, the supply and demand sort-of-thing and talking about allocation while Banking and Finance is something about how the banking system works, how deposits become loans, the role of the bank regulators, also likely how corporate finance works like to process to issue stock, borrow through issuing bonds, things like that. Anyways, I just agreed with him for the fact that we’re from the same school and department with different field.

And how did I get to know him personally? He told me his name while giving me a handshake. He even told me that he’s working in the private bank. I told him, “I knew one of your workmates! Then, he asked mine. I told him my full name but he couldn’t understand it that’s why I opened my wallet, got my business card there and showed it to him. He held it to his hand and got it from me, asking if the cell number is mine. I was trying to get it from him but knowing that everybody from the store would notice us. I just behaved and not anymore get that bcard to him.
I found him so nice to be with and I thought he’s a good man …he delivered perfect lines. “This guy is awesome!”,I told to myself.

After some conversations, my order was done. So I finally said goodbye to him saying, It’s nice meeting you!.. :)
“Only once in your life, I truly believe, you find someone who can completely turn your world around. You tell them things that you’ve never shared with another soul and they absorb everything you say and actually want to hear more. You share hopes for the future, dreams that will never come true, goals that were never achieved and the many disappointments life has thrown at you. When something wo...nderful happens, you can’t wait to tell them about it, knowing they will share in your excitement. They are not embarrassed to cry with you when you are hurting or laugh with you when you make a fool of yourself. Never do they hurt your feelings or make you feel like you are not good enough, but rather they build you up and show you the things about yourself that make you special and even beautiful. There is never any pressure, jealousy or competition but only a quiet calmness when they are around. You can be yourself and not worry about what they will think of you because they love you for who you are. The things that seem insignificant to most people such as a note, song or walk become invaluable treasures kept safe in your heart to cherish forever. Memories of your childhood come back and are so clear and vivid it’s like being young again. Colours seem brighter and more brilliant. Laughter seems part of daily life where before it was infrequent or didn’t exist at all. A phone call or two during the day helps to get you through a long day’s work and always brings a smile to your face. In their presence, there’s no need for continuous conversation, but you find you’re quite content in just having them nearby. Things that never interested you before become fascinating because you know they are important to this person who is so special to you. You think of this person on every occasion and in everything you do. Simple things bring them to mind like a pale blue sky, gentle wind or even a storm cloud on the horizon. You open your heart knowing that there’s a chance it may be broken one day and in opening your heart, you experience a love and joy that you never dreamed possible. You find that being vulnerable is the only way to allow your heart to feel true pleasure that’s so real it scares you. You find strength in knowing you have a true friend and possibly a soul mate who will remain loyal to the end. Life seems completely different, exciting and worthwhile. Your only hope and security is in knowing that they are a part of your life.” ― Bob Marley
